Criteria

Hello it's Inu here again. Before I start on any reviews I would start generally on how do I grade an anime (movies in general).

First of all, in every reviews, I will give you a spoiler-free general opinion on the anime, like what I like in general and what I dislike. Then afterwards I will pass a rating (I dislike ratings tbh) which would be how papers are graded in University hahaa. So it would be something like A+, A, A-, B so on and so forth. I honestly don't like giving a number as a rating because numbers for me tend to be inconsistent as they can change from time to time. (Some anime feels better to watch once you watch it the second time). But if you need a general visualisation on how the grades are classified then... A warning though, without seeing my full review, you may feel that my judgment is unjustified so...

Grading
E (0-1)
D (1-2)
C (2-3)
C+ (3-4)
B(4-6)
B+ (6-7)
A (7-9)
A+ (9-10)

After I passed my general spoiler free judgment on the anime, I will give a spoiler warning for those who wished to stop. Then I will give an in depth opinion on each criterias I have provided below. I know that sometimes we can be of a different opinions but don't verbally harass me kudasai! 😱. Let's just have a peaceful conversation!

Criterias
  • Characters
What do I mean by characters? Well, I believe that this is undoubtedly one of the most important aspect of a good show. Characters specifically imply how a character was developed. A good character development means that the viewer must be able to see the characters grow as an individual or as a group. If it is a group then viewers need to be able to indentify with the chemistry between its members. It also means that some time is actually dedicated for the sake of the characters. The pace for it is bearable, not too long because it'll be boring and not too short because it'll be underdeveloped.
  • Plot
Have you guys ever seen a plot curve of a narrative is? Well a good plot is something with a well-defined curve. A good plot usually means one climax point, with a great development and build up towards it. It should then be completed with a proper conclusion and a satisfying ending.
  • Coherence
Coherence or flow is how the dot is moving through the plot curve. A coherent narrative in layman terms means that there are no rooms for confusion. The narrative should be easy to understand and the pace should be controlled in accordance to the difficulty of understanding. Now... granted than in an anime, there may be a lot of small plots coming into play, I am not against it. But an anime with great coherence can connect these plot with one another, with the purpose of giving value to the true plot of the anime.
  • Effects
These are the cherry on top of a well built narrative. Even shows with bad plot can sometimes be saved with great effects. Effects of course mean special effects, including visual effects such as lighting and the animation itself. It aslo means audio effects, which of course means soundtracks and background music. I don't know whether or not should I consider Opening and Ending here hahaha, some can actually build up excitement for viewers but it does not serve much to the narrative so I am not sure.
  • Emotions
One of the most underestimated but a very critical aspect of a narrative is how it affects' people's emotion. Emotions can heavily influence an anime's ratings regardless of other factors (this is what I call being biased 😅). A horror scene, should be able to create much suspense, thrill and fear towards the viewers. Sad scenes can make viewers cry, and action scenes can induce the adrenaline to pump its viewers up.
Alright, I think that is all for the general idea on how I review the animes. So do look forward for my reviews. I'll try my best not to offend anyone especially those "Even if I die, [enter anime here] lives!" fans.
